ZE Trap Lag vs IWAY?
Don't know how many of you ZE but I've been bothered by something after doing it ALMOST every day for the last 2 years +...
100% of the time (I can't think of a time where I didn't notice it) Trap Lag occurs with IWAY foes. What I mean by Trap Lag is when the foes run up to you and stand in the traps, several seconds (timed up to 6 sec on my watch) go by while they attack you and deal damage to anyone standing in melee range without the traps "going off" & THEN all traps "go off normally" and all the foes take trap damage till they die or try to flee.
I've also noticed Trap Lag with the other foe groups (Eles, Trappers, Mes, Mix), but the "observation rate" is maybe 1 in 20 groups of foes... and yet the IWAY is EVERY time.
Anyone have a theory? I'm baffled...

In PvE when attacking Skeletal Bowman who also use traps, there's a delay in triggering the trap. I always thought that when the mob is standing on the trap, it will only go off when you melee that mob.
Are you using a blocking stance? Are you standing on the trap?

There's always a "lag" with traps as far as I know and it's always the same. They don't trigger the moment you step on them, but a little bit after.
There could be an issue that traps don't trigger on still targets. IE someone is already standing next to you, and you place a trap by their feet. It might not go off until something moves in the trap area.

I don't think that's it. Traps trigger on stationary targets. Try trapping a barrel in Isle of Nameless.

I laughed! LOL
But more on topic...
It might be that the extra pets cause lag in the ZE arena compared to other crap... just a guess.

Not sure what would cause it, but I know traps do not always trigger when something is on top of them. I have seen monsters in PvE set traps, clear the mob, then run across the traps forgetting about them. I sometimes get across with no problem, the traps do not go off and damage me. However, I see the heroes and hench trailing me get hit by them. And no, I'm not using a speed boost skill of any kind. Likewise, I have seen a monster get across a trap I set, and the ones behind it get hit by it. I always just contributed it to how the traps work, and never researched it.

it's not really a big deal though. just stand on the traps until they do go off. The wars wont be able to kill u quick enough before the traps finally go off and pwnzor them.

Because of that delay, I put the ranger spirits to block half of the gate and set the traps below/in front of them. So enemies pile up right in front of the spirits and then the traps go off. The finishers target the backline of the IWAY team. The only team where it is necessary to put the spirits in the back is the elementalist team. All other teams don't attack spirits in the first place.
At least, this was my style when I farmed ZE in times where you could bring heroes. I did it alone with 2 heroes - jin was the (micro-managed) trapper, myself and Sousuke were elementalist finishers. The fourth slot was a variable slot for a leecher which did not matter at all if he participated in the fight or not.
